FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
I may make clinical recommendations if more or less time may be needed, but how frequent we meet is up to you. However, there is no direct answer to this question. Factors that need to be considered are: What motivate you to come to treatment? What are your goals for and what do you want to get out of therapy? Is there a set amount of sessions that you are allowed per insurance? How long has the problem been effecting your life? Have you positively or negatively coped with this in the past?
Our goal together is to help you find a space where you are comfortable in moving on to be
the best version of yourself.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours in advance to the time of session in order to avoid being charged the full session fee. For Monday appointments, cancelations are to be made no later than 12 pm the prior Friday and for Tuesday appointment, cancelations and changes are to be made 12 pm Saturday.
WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?
Health services provided via technology, as opposed to in person sessions, through video conferencing or electronic communication are known as telehealth. Our sessions will be conducted through the HIPAA compliant client portal for your convenience. This means that you can conduct your therapy while on a break at work, in between classes, or in your car where physical limitations will not interfere with your mental health.
However, please be advised that unless communication, or telehealth, is held in a
confidential space, such as your home, there is no way to ensure confidentiality on the client’s end.
WHAT IS EMDR?
EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a trauma based therapeutic technique used to treat posttraumatic stress disorder, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and other trauma based disorders. EMDR is a psychotherapy that allows others to heal from emotional stress that resulted from life experiences that are distressful. Although most therapies may occur while the person is actively engaged in therapy, EMDR, through the rhythm of eye movement, is unique in the sense that processing of information may continue during the dreaming state of sleep known as Rapid Eye Movement (REM) cycle. These movements allow for the brain to process what our subconscious may have forgotten, or overtly oppressed, in a way that does not mandate speech in session as a form of therapy, but rather brings to surface what was once forgotten and to them store it appropriately in the brain.
